Cocktail Time at Edinburgh Festival 2018

Your Edinburgh Festival shows have been booked.  Dinner reservations have been made.  But where to find great cocktails in Edinburgh?  Edinburgh has a fantastic cocktail scene with hundreds of excellent places to enjoy a cocktail or two.  Here’s ten of our favourites to get you started.

Bramble:

The best bar in Britain.  Venture down the Queen Street venue’s mysterious but welcoming staircase to experience quality liquor like you’ve never experienced before…
16A Queen Street, Edinburgh EH2 1JE

Kaleidoscope Whisky Bar:

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society may seem like a special member’s club, which it is, but one of the most special things about this club is that anyone can visit their wonderful ground floor bar. Now in its 35th year, the SMWS must be doing something right with their exceptional array of the finest single cask whiskies money can buy. Oh, and their whisky cocktails aren’t half bad either…
28 Queen Street, Edinburgh EH2 1JX

Panda & Sons:

The magnificent Panda… anyone who knows the Edinburgh drink scene will vouch for this local favourite. Disguised as an old-school barbershop as an exterior, you then proceed through a bookcase (you heard me) to enter the venue, where you’ll be greeted by charming staff and some of the most imaginative drinks in the world…
79 Queen Street, Edinburgh EH2 4NF

Epicurean

Excellent cocktails just off the Royal Mile and a perfect stop off venue between shows. Colourful, interesting cocktails made by some of the city’s finest mixologists.

The Permit Room:

A fantastic late-night cocktail bar with seriously good drinks hidden beneath the kitchen of Dishoom Edinburgh, open until 3am.
3a St Andrew Square, Edinburgh EH2 2BD

The Bon Vivant:

Tucked away from the crowds on the hidden gem that is Thistle Street, The Bon V serves expertly made cocktails that will keep you coming back for more.
51 Thistle Street, Edinburgh EH2 1DY

Printing Press Bar and Kitchen

Situated on George Street in the heart of Edinburgh. The new cocktail menus will get your imagination racing with drinks that long to be adored, a celebration of Scotland’s literary heritage and a nod to the Hotel’s former resident, the novelist Susan Ferrier, these cocktail concoctions are quite literally a journey through some of literature’s most exciting moments. They also have a new pop up Taittinger Champagne bar with excellent Champagne cocktails.  21-25 George St, Edinburgh EH2 2PB

Bryant and Mack Private Detectives:

Wander Rose Street and see if you can find this “private detective agency”.  The door might be padlocked, but give it a push and see where you end up.  89 Rose Street North Lane, Edinburgh, EH2 3DX

The Devil’s Advocate:

Visit if you want a great drink in a unique venue. Consistently flawless cocktails.
9 Advocate’s Cl, Edinburgh EH1 1ND

The Last Word Saloon

If you want to escape the Festival madness then why not head down to Stockbridge and visit The Last Word Cocktail Saloon.  One of Bramble’s relations so expect excellent cocktails, 44 St Stephen St, Edinburgh EH3 5AL
