We received a lovely gift of a 7 course tasting menu from one of our good friends which was both a lovely surprise and treat!   We decided to make a night of it and stay over at the hotel which was very relaxing.  Rather that review the food (since it was a gift!) we decided to take lots of pictures to show you what we had.  We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay, dinner and breakfast.

Murrayshall is a country house with golf course situated close to Scone near Perth.  I stayed there lots of times in a previus life.  They have a range of Standard Rooms, Suites and also rooms out in the gardens.  These rooms have sitting rooms, kitchens and are really small apartments.   Murrayshall is also haunted……lots of stories about Murray the young boy…..just ask the night porter!

Our evening started in the bar with a Gin and Tonic and Canapes.  I opted for Blackwoods, Shetland Gin and Raymond for Gordons.   As we were having the set 7 course tasting menu, there was no selecting from the menu, but were brought canapes while we waited for our table.

Here is what we had to eat for our 7 courses:

Crowdie Stuffed Apricots and Smoked Mackerel Toasts served as Canapes.

Next on the menu was Pork, Cider and Foie Gras Pie with Pickled Vegetable Salad

Cream of Celeriac Soup with Pancetta Truffle

Trio of Scottish Salmon with Horseradish Creme Fraiche

Chicken Breast  with Confit Drumsticks, Tattie Scone, Wild Mushroom and Red Wine Sauce

Whipped Crowdie with Cheddar Cheese Shortbread and Onion Jam.

White Chocolate and Passion Fruit Cheesecake with a Hot Chocolate Shot, White Chocolate and Honeycomb Ice Cream.

Coffee and Petit Fours £3.50 extra

Not sure you can call 2 bits of tablet Petit Fours but it was lovely anyway!

We even managed a Perthshire Plate for Breakfast!

Thanks to Angela, Roy and Amy for the lovely gift.  We had a lovely evening!
