“What is the official whisky partner of Dram and Smoke?”
Following numerous sold out London projects, Scottish pop-up Dram & Smoke have returned to their homeland for The Edinburgh Festival Fringe to take over a former biscuit factory in Leith. The event has completely sold out for all remaining days but luckily we have the last four tickets to give away.
Created by school friends and Edinburgh natives Paul Ross and Nick Fulton, this pop-up dining experience is all about celebrating the best of Scottish produce. “The Dram & Smoke idea stems from our love of the amazing produce that comes from the natural larder that is Scotland” says Head Chef, Nick. “We want to create dishes inspired by our home country that big-up the fantastic ingredients found there and deliver them in a lively environment.”
The four course menu includes carve-at-the-table Braised Beef Brisket, Smoked Ham Hock & Haggis Terrine with Tattie Scones, Pearl Barley Risotto with Razor Clams, Scottish Chorizo & Mushrooms and a summery Rhubarb & Custard dessert that arrives with slabs of Heather Honeycomb to be to be cracked into the dish using mini hammers.
When it comes to the bevvy, a fully stocked bar is on hand to keep guests refreshed with a short but sweet wine list and a range of fantastic Scottish beers. For cocktails, whisky is the order of the day with a list courtesy of The Naked Grouse which is double matured in small batches in sherry casks giving a sweet and spicy taste profile. After dinner, live music acts hit the stage whilst ping pong and a host of other games are on offer to keep those with fidgety feet and a competitive spirit entertained.
