August 2017 sees Edinburgh throwing its first dedicated cocktail festival, organised and curated by Scottish creative agency The Drink Cabinet, in collaboration with Food + Flea Market.

Edinburgh Cocktail Festival will run for the duration of the Edinburgh International Festival (4 – 28th August), and will celebrate the city’s booming cocktail culture in a new and exciting area of urban regeneration, just off the Royal Mile.

Festival visitors can expect an array of cocktail bars, food-stalls, masterclasses, pop-up events, and live performances by emerging artists and DJs, under the canvas of the £200 million New Waverley development. Events include a Ketel One Vodka Bloody Mary Kitchen and Tanqueray Gin Forest, alongside a host of other innovative experiential experiences for consumers to enjoy throughout the month of August.

Edinburgh Cocktail Festival will provide the city with an exciting new platform for showcasing Edinburgh’s vibrant bar and cocktail scene, to international visitors and locals alike, at a peak time in the city’s festival calendar. Globally renowned brands will showcase their products, whilst local bars show off the city’s skills through masterclasses and takeovers.

Lauren Stewart, co-founder and co-director of drinks specialist agency The Drink Cabinet UK, says:

The Drink Cabinet are excited to bring the first ever cocktail festival to Edinburgh at such a key time in the cultural calendar. The annual Festival in August attracts so many visitors from so many countries and cultures. Our aim is to get everyone together in one place, to enjoy world-class Scottish hospitality and great drinks in an incredible new space – truly highlighting the vibrancy of our capital city.

Hal Prescott and Scotty Kirkham – the guys behind The Pitt street-food market in Leith, and the Food + Flea Market located in the New Waverley Development – have partnered with The Drink Cabinet, providing fresh street-food to accompany the cocktails on offer during Edinburgh Cocktail Festival.

Hal Prescott, co-founder of Food + Flea says:

We’re looking forward to kicking off New Waverley’s first cocktail festival with The Drink Cabinet. We are proud to collaborate with Lauren and the team again, as independent small businesses work hard to breathe new life into a once neglected part of the Old Town – creating an exciting new event for the city.

Charlotte Swanson, Scottish Development Manager for New Waverley, says:

New Waverley is fast becoming a thriving and exciting new urban quarter, and we are delighted to support young entrepreneurs such as Lauren and Hal in their endeavours of creative consumer experiences and supporting emerging talents. We have already attracted some great national and local businesses here, and it will be great to have the festival spirit on our doorstep this August.
