Portugal’s oldest port wine house, Kopke, is helping host a gourmet night at Scotland’s Group Hotel of the Year – Skeabost House, on the Isle of Skye in November.
Established in 1638, it is a leader in the production of Port Tawny Colheita wines, including white port, and has a remarkable collection of special category ports.
On Friday 2 November João Belo from Kopke will guide guests through a selection chosen to pair with a six-course menu created by James Dixon, Head Chef at the hotel near Portree, as well as tastings finishing with a 60-year-old port. The menu will include  Mediterranean canapes, hand-dived scallop tartare, halibut poached in vintage port, Skye loin of venison and a mini-assiette of gingerbread desserts.
Tickets for the evening, also organised in association with Inverarity Morton wines, are £65 per person. Discounted accommodation at the 18 bedroom hotel, voted Group Hotel of the Year in the 2018 Catering Scotland Awards, is available at £99 per person for bed and breakfast.
