STICKY TOFFEE PUD v THE BAGEL: Sitting here in my STICKY TOFFEE PUD v THE BAGEL:
Sitting here in my wee shed having a toasted bagel for lunch and dreaming of a proper sit down Sunday lunch.

SUNDAY LUNCH: if you are visiting Skye then Kinloch Lodge Hotel is THE place to go for a fantastic Sunday lunch. We love visiting in the autumn and winter with all the twinkling candles and roaring wood burning stoves and a gale blowing outside.

The candles were twinkling away and the wood burners were on when we arrived. Perfect! We enjoyed the fixed priced Sunday Lunch Menu - 2 courses for £34 and 3 courses for £38.

I had Ham Hough Terrine, Dijon mustard purée, beetroot slaw and sumac crackers and Raymond had the mushroom and Madeira soup with homemade croutons to start.

I then had Talisker aged Isle of Skye Venison haunch and Raymond had slow roast shoulder of Beauly lamb. The roasts were served with herb roasted potatoes, greens, roast carrots and parsnips, cauliflower cheese, huge Yorkshire puddings and lashings of gravy. Oh boy it was good 😊 !!

Then for dessert, I chose Baileys chocolate tart, nut brittle, salted caramel and baileys ice cream. Raymond had Sticky Toffee Pudding, butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream.

This truly is our favourite Sunday lunch in Skye. Delicious!

We had a voucher from earlier in the year to enjoy. It’s a perfect treat. If you know someone visiting Skye - for a special event, elopement or holiday then a voucher to spend at Kinloch Lodge is a lovely gift.

Kinloch Lodge are also doing festive Sunday lunches over the festive season so be sure to check them out.

We are so lucky to have The Misty Bottle shop here in Skye - it stocks a brilliant range of beers, gin, wine and whisky. It also has 4 growler options. It’s about 4 or 5 miles from the Skye Bridge heading into the island - be sure to stop off if you are visiting Skye.

We also received a copy of the @hiddenscotland autumn and winter edition this week so it made perfect fireside reading. It’s a great guide to buy if you are looking for ideas for your Scottish travels. We were delighted to see so many of Isle of Skye’s great businesses listed - including @donniestabletshed here in Waternish. My wee shed selling Homemade Scottish Tablet and gifts at the gate 😍.

We have just been planting 100 plus daffodils around the wee shed to add to the ones already there - hope……as the clocks change of brighter days coming back in the Spring.

The summer bedding has also been replaced with winter pansies . This years colour is Orange! It was @skyeshrubs last day today so we were so glad they had some left. Hopefully they will flourish for all your shed selfies.

Time to light the fire again…..

When it’s pouring outside, there’s nothing nic When it’s pouring outside, there’s nothing nicer than a cosy pub with wood burner, great staff, a pint of beer, delicious food and your doggy is welcomed with open arms too. We found all of this and more at The Oyster Inn in Connel, just outside Oban.

You can choose to dine in the bar area (the doggy friendly bit) or in the restaurant with amazing views out over the water. It’s the same menu in both areas.

Service was amazing and the food extremely tasty and really well priced.

Highly recommended if you are in the area.

AD: Tonight's Gin by the fire after a wild windy d AD: Tonight's Gin by the fire after a wild windy day here in Skye is - Lunun Gin from MasterChef Finalist and top restaurateur Dean Banks. Dean sent us a bottle to celebrate International Scottish Gin Day tomorrow with - (much appreciated!).

It's always Scottish Gin Day in this house so why wait until tomorrow - we popped the cork tonight to try it. We enjoyed it with blueberries and dried pineapple as a garnish.

It's really lovely with an asian twist. Lunun is created in a single-fold distillation process and includes six key botanicals: kaffir lime leaf, sea buckthorn, Sichuan pepper, kombu kelp, ginger and lemongrass.
