The Rookery is a new venture showcasing the very best Scottish produce, which has put Carnoustie on the map as a culinary hotspot.
Having opened in late April 2018, the new menu created by Consultant Chef Roy Brett, and delivered by Head Chef Chris Hazelton, offers guests lunch and dinner in a relaxed atmosphere with great service. The dining space uses natural materials and full-length glass windows to make the most of the spectacular panoramic views of the world-renowned Carnoustie Championship Course.
With a focus on local, seasonal produce, the dishes feature a plethora of the best Scottish food. Roy has worked with the team at The Rookery to devise a menu that showcases what the surrounding land and sea has to offer, getting to know local suppliers to ensure the chefs know exactly where each ingredient comes from, including Arbroath Smokies, Angus Beef and East Coast Lobster. Dishes on offer include Peat Smoked Salmon, East Neuk Chowder, Seaspray Mussels, Auld Reekie Smoked Cheese and Treacle Tart. The menu will change regularly to reflect the seasons and availability.
The Rookery is open for everyone to enjoy. It is the perfect dining environment for couples, groups and families. The newly launched children’s menu features an array of dishes that little ones will love such as Asparagus Soup, Crispy Haddock and Lemon Posset. The restaurant is easily accessible by car and public transport with trains from Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Dundee and Arbroath all stopping at the local Carnoustie station.
The Rookery’s private dining room can also be hired exclusively for events such as dinner parties and other special occasions. The suite offers space to host up to twelve people for an event with a real point of difference with a balcony overlooking the iconic Links.
