Revolutionising the everyday shop, The Refillery, one of Scotland’s first dedicated plastic-free grocery stores is now open.
Witnessing the problem of plastic and spurred on by the slow pace of change from UK retailers, founder Kelly Wright has made a huge leap from her successful career in the food industry to launch the new business single-handedly.
Driven by her passion for reducing plastic consumption, Kelly was inspired to change her whole lifestyle, establishing The Refillery as a positive solution for all.
Part of the new eco-friendly shopping movement in Edinburgh, The Refillery offers an alternative by removing disposable packaging from the household goods on offer.
Bringing their own tubs or containers, people can fill them up, pay by weight, and head home happy in the knowledge that they are part of a solution to the global waste issue.
Selling everyday staples such as pasta, rice as well as carefully sourced seasonal organic fresh produce (farm-fresh eggs, fruits, vegetables and fresh bread), The Refillery works with suppliers who share its eco-friendly ethos.
Stocking ethical detergents, beeswax wraps, cruelty-free shampoos and even toothpaste in a jar, the store thinks beyond food packaging and is passionate about reducing plastic across the board.
