Join me on my private Rosslyn Chapel day tour from Edinburgh with an optional visit to Glenkinchie Whisky distillery.
To start your private Rosslyn Chapel day tour from Edinburgh we will collect you from your accommodation or cruise ship port and head towards the village of Cramond on the outskirts of Edinburgh. Cramond has evidence of first habitation dating back to 8500BC and has a very picturesque harbour and excellent coastal views towards the Forth bridges.
From Cramond, we will head towards South Queensferry, making a detour to view Dalmeny House, the home of the Earl of Rosebery with its coastal setting. The house is a Gothic revival mansion and tours are available at certain times during the summer months.

After a visit to Dalmeny, we will arrive under the iconic Forth Rail Bridge, in the picturesque village of South Queensferry. Here you can wander the cobbled streets and vennels or enjoy morning coffee alfresco (weather permitting!!)
After South Queensferry, we head back through Edinburgh and onwards to the mysterious Rosslyn Chapel – of Da Vinci Code fame. This is a stunning historic building and we recommend a visit. Informative talks take place in the chapel on a regular basis and provide an insight to Rosslyn’s eventful past.
After visiting the chapel we recommend a quick detour to Whitmuir Organic Farm for lunch.
Following lunch, we will then pay a visit to Glenkinchie Distillery – a classic Lowland distillery in East Lothian. Here you will start your tour in their unique exhibition on the original malting floor. Your guide will then lead you through the distillery production area showing how they make the “water of life.” To finish your tour you will be welcomed into the bar to enjoy a dram of Glenkinchie Single Malt.

If you would prefer to visit Scotland’s finest stately home, Hopetoun House, rather than do the whisky tour this can be easily switched. For your convenience, we have complete flexibility with the order in which we complete this tour.
Our private Rosslyn Chapel day tour ends back at your accommodation, or we can drop you off in Edinburgh so that you can enjoy a wee dram and dinner.
There are endless opportunities on this tour – we will discuss what’s important to you and what you would prefer to see then we will build your specific day around this. The above tour is an example of what we can see en route.
When we go away on our own holidays we always end up spending each night searching for somewhere nice to eat. On our tours, we are happy to recommend our favourite bars and restaurants to save you valuable time. You can read our food reviews in our blog The Boys Eat Scotland.
Admission Fees, Coffee lunch or dinner costs are not included in our tour price.
