Lunch at Victoria’s in Pitlochry

After enjoying a fabulous stay at the Old Mill Inn, we were looking forward to trying out their sister-restaurant for a lunchtime treat. Victoria’s Restaurant occupies a lovely corner on the street and you can enjoy a hearty breakfast, a leisurely lunch, coffee and a cake or a romantic dinner. The outside tables were a popular spot for people-watchers but we opted to escape the hustle and bustle and sat at a booth inside.

Like the Old Mill Inn, the members of staff are friendly, professional and provide a very warm welcome along with an extensive menu. Victoria’s covers all of the bases for lunchtime whether you fancy a toasted panini, sandwich, baked potato or they also do salads and a range of tempting main courses. I decided to have the American Club Sandwich (£10.95) and Donnie went for the BBC Panini (£10.95), both served with salad leaves and pasta salad.

My club sandwich was delicious with a triple decker of toasted wholegrain bread layered with moist chicken, Ayrshire bacon, crisp lettuce and tomato with just the right amount of mayo. I enjoyed it even more knowing that Victoria’s use free-range chicken and locally sourced ingredients – it certainly tasted very fresh.

The BBC panini consisted of Bacon, Brie and Cranberry sauce and Donnie enjoyed every mouthful l. He loved the saltiness of the Ayrshire bacon that went so well with the sweet creaminess of the Morangie Brie and the crunchy fresh panini. The quality of the ingredients really shone through and made it a very satisfying lunchtime bite.

We were full up after our mains but in the interests of research, Donnie did take some mouth-watering photographs of their cake fridge. It was crammed full of Malwina’s home-baked cakes and desserts that we’ll definitely be back to try again some other time.
